Why are our melting tanks non-stick coated?

The hot-melt adhesive used is melted in the tanks of the melters. Tank sizes and shapes vary depending on the device.  

Most devices have a non-stick coating on the base of the melting tank. This coating consists of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) and prevents hot-melt adhesives from sticking to the tank walls.  

The very low surface tension of PTFE means that no other material will stick to this material. This makes it easier to clean the melting tank. Despite the coating, this must be done regularly. Don’t forget 😉!

When cleaning, it is important not to work with sharp objects so as not to scratch the coating. Mechanical cleaning should be carried out every time the adhesive is changed and in the case that there are visible deposits. The operating instructions describe the best way to clean the devices.
