“What is the greatest annoyance for our customers?” This was the question our developers and designers asked themselves during the new development of the HB 720 K. “Waste of money and resources, inability to work”, were the answers.
Premature exchange of cartridges that are not completely empty and devices destroyed by leaking reactive hot-melt adhesive are the main reasons for lack of productivity.
“Let us take the technology of hand-held devices to a new level”, was the motto. We proudly present the latest member of the wing.line® family.
After the HB 240 / 250 hand-held devices, the HB 720 K is the third model in the new wing.line® design.
The design differs greatly from the devices known on the market. You, as user, should not only be able to feel the differences to the previous generation HB 700, but also be able to see them.
The biggest challenge for the technical department was the task of making visible something that you cannot see:
The 310ml cartridges on the market with which PUR or POR hot-melt adhesives are processed are made of opaque aluminium. With the cartridge in the tank of the device, checking the level by simply looking at it was no longer possible.
Anyone working with reactive adhesives in cartridges had to rely on their feeling for working time and the weight of the device. For this reason, cartridges were often replaced prematurely – annoying, when this was not completely emptied.
An absolute world first in the reactive hotmelt area was developed for the HB 720 K: A level indicator for cartridges.
An illuminated LED-Display shows the fill level of the cartridges. If 5 bars are showing, the cartridge is full and if only 1 bar appears, the cartridge is almost empty. No bars on the display means the cartridge is empty.
A cartridge preheater is available as an accessory, which allows production without long interruptions.
Changing the cartridge is extremely simple. The new tank cap can be easily screwed on with one hand. One should first hold the device upside down for a few seconds to allow the last drop of adhesive to run back into the cartridge. The empty cartridge is pulled out of the tank with pliers. The new preheated cartridge can then be inserted. By closing the lid, the cartridge is automatically opened by two pins inside. In this way, the risk of injury has been reduced to a minimum.
The new tank is PTFE coated.
The old version of the tank was made of uncoated aluminium. If small amounts of adhesive were released when the cartridge was changed, the adhesive in the tank reacted. Removal of the glued cartridge was only possible using great force - or not at all.
With the new version of the tank, this danger has been eliminate.
PTFE (colloquially Teflon®) is very inert. Even aggressive acids cannot attack or react with the coating. There are hardly any materials that adhere to PTFE, as the surface tension is extremely low.
These properties prevent (total) equipment damage due to leaked PUR/ POR adhesive. The cartridge can be removed, even with hardened adhesive!
All the components used are silicone-free. The clearly arranged display at the bottom of the device enables service intervals, operating hours and number of activations to be shown.
Of course, the temperature can be set to exactly to +/- 1°C to cope with the sensitive, reactive hot-melt adhesive.
To protect the adhesive, an automatic temperature reduction can be programmed. The set temperature is easy to read in the illuminated display. The display also indicates that it is ready for operation when the processing temperature is reached.
