Release liner
release paper (or release liner) is used to protect surfaces or to product defined surface structures.
Especially important is a non-stick surface. This is achieved during manufacture by impregnation or by coating a paper or other suitable carrier material, e.g. foil. Suitable materials are silicone, oils and fats, as well as polypropylene and fluorocarbons.
Release liners are frequently used routine processes to protect tacky from soiling or accidentally sticking in the packaging, for example
- for adhesive labels,
- on adhesive tape,
- in the hygiene sector,
- for medical plasters.
