Bead/line/dot application
Bead application, (also, but rarely, called line application) is the most commonly used type of application for hot melt adhesives; in the field of mechanical glue guns (hot melt glue guns) actually the only one. With the help of the application device, beads/lines of adhesive are applied to the substrate.
If the application device does not continue further, or the adhesive supply is suddenly stopped, the result is a dot application.
In order to save adhesive, automated systems can interrupt the lines; in this case one speaks of intermittent hot melt application.
