Types of application
Hot melt adhesives are solvent-free, physically setting adhesives that are 100% solid at room temperature. In order to be able to wet the substrate surface during processing, they are melted. This is done by means of application technology which is specially developed for the purpose. The liquid hot melt adhesive is conveyed from a heated tank via, for example, heated hoses to the heated application heads and applied, with or without contact, to the substrate.
The adhesive application is differentiated into:
- Bead or line application
- Dot application
- Spray application
- Intermittent application
- Surface application
