The Mystery of the Bag
The boom in online trade continues unabated. Connected to the shopping experience is the shipment of the ordered goods. Particularly in the shipping of textiles, foil bags are an alternative to cardboard boxes. All bags are fitted with one or more practical self-adhesive strips.
Thousands of bags had been securely closed during our history. But all of a sudden, unexplainable faulty closures occurred; A case for Amelie “Watson” Greif and Andreas “Sherlock” Ditze.
Historical development of the oxidation-stable hot-melt adhesives
With the advent of the Metallocene-catalysed PolyOlefin hot-melt adhesives (MPO), e.g. BÜHNEN avenia, in the 2000s, the conventional EVA-based hot-melt adhesives were considered outdated. Their rapid disappearance from the packaging market was predicted.
Around 15 years later, EVA adhesives are still on the market and have a firm place next to the MPO-based hot-melt adhesives in the bonding of packaging.
How did these adhesives come about and what are the comparative advantages?
Market launch of HB 720 K
“What is the greatest annoyance for our customers?” This was the question our developers and designers asked themselves during the new development of the HB 720 K. “Waste of money and resources, inability to work”, were the answers.
Premature exchange of cartridges that are not completely empty and devices destroyed by leaking reactive hot-melt adhesive are the main reasons for lack of productivity.
“Let us take the technology of hand-held devices to a new level”, was the motto. We proudly present the latest member of the wing.line® family.
New HB 250 already successfully in use!
Improved ergonomics and a more reliable bonding process with patented technology
In many applications, adhesive application by hand is still the most effective way of combining two materials, even in a high-tech environment. It is not always easy to make the bonding process safe and economical. Two innovative devices from the new wing.line-series can provide support here. The HB 250 and – as the little sister – the HB 240 feature patented technology. The result: significantly improved ergonomics and more reliable adhesive application.
The devices for the processing of 12mm glue sticks, newly developed from scratch in Germany in close cooperation with users, have an innovative interior. The patent-pending technology reduces, amongst other things, the physical effort of pulling the trigger by at least 30% in comparison with other devices.
More power and improved ergonomics - The wing.line-series
With the wing.line®-series we present our new product line. Developed in close cooperation with our users, we have placed our focus on a significant improvement of the work processes. The line starts with the wing.line® stick series of mechanical hot melt guns.
On the new HB 240 and HB 250, our Bremen-based R&D department was able to reduce the trigger pull forces by up to 30%, as you can see in the video.
Besides the optimized trigger ergonomics, the successors of our proven HB 220 and HB 230E now also feature an improved temperature regulation, as well as a “Ready”-indicator.
